The release
Behind the album
A Jewish-American concept album moving through memory, faith, rebellion, loss, healing, and joy.
Covenant of Freedom brings spoken-word poetry, meditation, and song into one concept album. Its sound draws on folk, R&B, hip-hop, rock, pop, reggae, and jazz, with Jewish identity and the American soundscape at its center.
In his source note, Michael Teichberg traces the project to reflections after a family wedding. He describes the influence of Nefesh Mountain and Pain of Salvation’s Be, alongside poems from his collection ManuScrita.
Covenant of Freedom is a release from Dust & Clay, the project through which Michael Teichberg began exploring how his writing could be experienced through sound. It belongs to the collection’s Identity phase.
